Oh yeah (more Olympic stuff)
Feb. 10th, 2006 11:10 pmThey made a fuss about "the first time 8 women carried the Olympic flag", and how they were representative of women the world over. And all famous.
Um… I'd say the majority of women the world over are not famous (and comprise many more than a mere 8 types, two of which are "actress"). Also, at that point, they'd only mentioned Sophia Loren and Susan Sarandon as flag bearers. I'm sorry, but Susan Sarandon is not representative of me.
Then they showed Isabel Allende, and I was happy. She can be representative of me. (I also discovered that my anglo-tongue is still a problem. *sigh* But I've only ever read her name.)
Hopefully, I will not be squeesnark for the entire games. But no promises.
