Yeah, I know, I promised back to the regular stuff, but…

Cyndi Lauper's going back. The last track will not rip, nor copy through Finder, or even will it play. I really hope that's all the bloody disc has done. I've checked a few forums, and they say Macs aren't affected. I'm still a little worried.

On to the funny. But not funny ha-ha. >.<

While researching the Mac issue, I came across this. The best part is, I write Suncomm to complain about this DRM. Their website encourages people to write Apple and request them to "Open up their proprietary technology."

Remember, this is all to do with Sony, the company whose Beta format lost the VCR battle because they wouldn't open up their proprietary technology.

Just how stupid do they think we are?

I bought the Kate Bush. It didn't have anything about copy protectionon the packaging, so I decided to take a chance. And guy in store assured me that if I had problems, I could return it. So far, so good.

Wheeee! Kate Bush! *dances*

Well, crap. After all that complaining about EMI, I accidentally bought a Sony disc. BadGinny! (Cyndi Lauper :-D) Which I unfortunately didn't realise until after I'd broken the seal, or that one I would definitely have taken back. Again, though, this one doesn't say anything on it about copy protection. But I don't know if Sony's actually been putting anything on their packaging about their nasty nasty practices.

And now, we return to our regular programming.

Kitties are upset with me - I've run out of food. The last was put out this morning. On the way home, I stopped to pick some up, but the store didn't have anything I wanted to feed them. And I think I'm going to open a can of tuna and eat my lunch in peace?

Instructor didn't show up for class this morning. >.< No one came from the office to tell us what was going on, either. Bah! Rude much?

I think I need supervision. I stoped at Indigo for Vogue Knitting for the pattern I drooled over on [livejournal.com profile] craftyginny, and ended up picking up 2 more books. Both were severely discounted and interesting - Europe in the middle ages and the History of the French Country House. But considering that my whining about haemorrhaging money just 2 days ago led to a generous gift, I now feel bad.

Gotta go - hungry.

Now don't go all mad on me, there is logic to it.

I'm starting to think we all should refuse to buy her CD and tell her exactly why.

Sean tells me that the US release is Columbia which is Sony which is the company even worse than EMI Canada. So, here's this giant of an artist releasing her first CD in over a decade and all her fans are facing the prospect of either a CD that will only play on a proprietary music player (if you're lucky enough to even get it to play), or even worse, having their root taken over by some seriously illegal software.

That's no choice. And it's pissing me off. I want my Kate Bush.

[edit: doing more reading on the Sony badness, I came across this: In the meantime, the easiest way around these issues is to use Apple Computer products in conjunction with your iPod. Which really should make the Apple geek in me rejoice. But it doesn't 'cause iTMS pisses me off, too. (gentle reminder: iTunes is not iTMS. first=good, second=bad, very bad)]
