So, our Department has somehow got the reputation for being doormats. We often end up doing other Departments' work.

With the new software in a few weeks, our Legal & Compliance department will finally be taking over the footnotes, rather than sending us a list of changes that need to be made. (An incomplete & unreliable list, by the way.) So I just got an e-mail from one of them with some changes that need to be made.

The thing is, my boss last week said that they're to do it all from now on. So I got the lovely chore of finding a nice way to say: "Do it your own damned self!" Eek.

How about you forward the message to your boss, cc'ing the requester. In your message to your boss you say something like, "I thought that Legal & Compliance would be handling this from now on. Did I misunderstand?"

I never could managed to get the hang of that one. I always end up with the job description "person who does all the crummy rotten jobs no one else wants to do". I gotta stop workin' for the man.
