A question for pagans:
Mar. 31st, 2009 07:29 am"It's the fall equinox. From today, female energy becomes dominant again, until spring."
It's been a while since I read about paganism, but my brain says, "Wut?" (As I recall, the switch is at Samhain, and I'm questioning the female energy dominance.) This book is already too Da Vinci Codeish, and if this is wrong and turns out to be major plot point…
(The book is The Rose Labyrinth. I had a very bad feeling when the book arrived at the library in oh-so-precious packaging with the clue cards that the characters find on one side. The back copy says something like "L finds this only later in the book. Get a head start on solving the mystery." No thanks.
(Also, the packaging couldn't be more efficient at destroying said clue cards if it had been designed to do so [for all I know, it has been].)
Also, it got Chartres all wrong. Why I read this book that makes me all grumbly? Good question. Back to the library with you, book
*snrk* Thank you, Aimee Mann: "But nobody wants to hear this tale / The plot is cliché"
{If there is a multi-paragraph parenthetical aside, are the parentheses done the same way as in the case of multi-paragraph quotes? Things to consider!}

Date: 2009-03-31 04:51 pm (UTC)Far too many people think that "Wicca is whatever I want it to be!" Which is bullshit! I'm not Wiccan, I took a look at it, learned enough to know it's not for me, and now focus my spiritual energies in other directions.
And the whole: Spiritual secrets passed down from Mother to daughter? Also bullshit that a lot of wannabe wiccans use to try to make their faith seem more legitimate.
From looking quickly at the site it seems to be "DaVinchi Code with a Wiccan Twist." I'll bet the writing is as poor as the research.

Date: 2009-03-31 05:52 pm (UTC)Also, there's already been mention of a male character's distracting beauty and a description of a female character with midnight blue eyes and copper-coloured hair. Gag me.
