ginny_tA very interesting article: Technology as an addiction. (Disclaimer: this was written in 1978, so some things have changed. However, I do agree with the assessment of Star Wars as addiction-fix, especially in light of the Trilogy of Atrociousness. [That said, I'm not really interested in opening a debate on whether her assessment of the first two or three movies is correct. It's an example, that's all.])
It's a long read, but highly worthwhile, I think. It's had a profound effect on my thinking since I read it earlier this year.
