I've enjoyed it. It's cute to see the reaction from others, like accounting firms... "What program exactly did you create this file in? We can't open it!!"
Then they can.
Then they start using it more often.
(Alternately, I press the little icon with the PDF on it, and e-mail THAT file.)
You don't have that X thing? I have Open Office 2.3... not the same as yours? Mine has to run with another program, and it's really aggravating and annoying. But yours is like...*meant* for OSX? I should go to the site and see if I need to update!
The other program you mention is probably the X thing. X11 is the guts of the windowing system on linux and other unix-y type operating systems.
Programs made for X11 can run on OS X but their menus and windows and buttons are all different because they don't use the OS X widgets.
It sounds as though for version 3, they've made a version of OO that uses the actual OS X widgets and won't require X11. OO 3.0 is in beta, though, so presumably they're still working on bugs.
