Mar. 30th, 2008 01:46 pmI'm still a little bouleversée [a fancy French way of saying "flummoxed"] by how much I liked Coffee Prince. *_*
If you like Asian dramas at all, I highly recommend it. (Many thanks to
oyceter, whose *squee* induced me to check it out after all [and got me over a silly twitchy bit that might have been a "you go away" moment].)
It's not quite perfect. There are three missing moments: one character realising and apologising for just how self-centred he'd been {after the fact would have been fine; he'd been through something pretty hard and then found out that it wasn't like that after all}, another character apologising for saying such hurtful things and jumping to the conclusion that he did, and a third that I can't remember right now. Still, much yumminess.
I've just finished watching the latest TV adaptation of Northanger Abbey. It was pretty good, even if it did downplay the satire and emphasise the romance. Then there was the de-subtling of the whole thing. *sigh* Jane Austen wrote sly witty clever satire; she did not write sledgehammer of subtlety. *sigh* (I pretend that passionate kissing bit at the end didn't happen at all. Lalalala! Not listening!)
I'm looking forward to checking out Mansfield Park. I'm not sure about Billie Piper as Fanny Price, but it can't be worse than the movie version. *shudder* On the subject of unsubtle. *shudder*

Date: 2008-03-31 02:09 am (UTC)There are frustrating MegaUpload links for Coffee Prince in the jdramas community, but you have to join the community as all the posts are locked. If you remind me mid-May, I can make you discs.
