Fuck it

I've thought about it, agonised about it, weighed the pros and cons, and finally decided.

As you can tell, I'm not participating in the content strike. (I have, however, added "fuck you SUP" to my interests [not even my own initiative; I saw someone else {lost in a tangle of links—sorry!} do it and decided it was an excellent idea].) This is not an instead, for all that it's more permanent than a 24-hour blip.)

The final straw was the thought that y'know, there's a lot of crappy shit going on in the world; I have other priorities for my activism.

This is my choice and my reasons for said choice. You make yours with your own reasons.

Edit: Xanga—thoughts?

Hehe.

And there are better ways to protest, too. If ten zillion people with paid accounts dropped them at midnight or something, or if everyone posted a *lot* and gave the LJ servers a hard time. But a few people not posting isn't going to make SUP care.

even then, they pay for crazy extreme servers, theres no way any amount of posting would stress out the servers at all.

The paid account thing is good tho. Altho mine is up this week and im not renewing it, so same diff lol

I'm not really participating in the content strike, but I am starting to take down my old entries. I ran LJMigrate last night and now have everything archived on my hard drive, and today I'm going through and deleting most everything. I am annoyed that there is not a nice way to do this on a mac (LJSec would be good otherwise).

This is not so much by way of a March 21 protest, but by way of "eh, it was about time I did this anyway".

Try ljdump. (Yes, it gets comment threads too.)

I think that's pretty much what LJMigrate does (yes, including comment threads), but I don't see a way to select entries for mass deletion without just nuking the entire thing...?

Sorry, I read "archive old entries" for "do this", not "delete great swaths of entries". (Is there an updated version of LJMigrate that does comment threads? The version I was pointed to explicitly didn't.)

Nifty! It's running now. 2,274 entries are going to take a while… O_o

Yeah, I had about 1300 entries, and I think it was done within 20-30 minutes. I wasn't watching the time, though, so don't quote me.

last time i looked there wasn't a way to mass delete entries. the last time i *did* mass delete entries, i wrote my own php script to do so... it was hardcoded to my lj, but maybe i should dig it up and clean it up to let other people do it too.

it was pretty crude: it listed your entries a batch at a time (10 at a time? 25? i can't remember) and let you check/uncheck them for deleting... it still took a while but it did save time.

three cheers for your final thought... there are far more important things to be upset about and far better ways to get a point across... (that being said - I can't think of one interesting thing to write a post about today... but this comment should suffice by way of not participating ;-)... btw: we need to still find a time to get together! how's your hip feeling? what's your schedule like?

I've been meaning to get back to you for a while now—sorry!

The House is back, which messed with my schedule quite impressively. This week, there's either Thursday (working 'til 6) or Friday (working 'til 4:30). Either of those work for you? Otherwise, there'll be 1:30-9:30 days the following week; we could catch up before I go to work on one of those.

I've been meaning to get back to you too! things have been nutty...

either this coming friday or one of the days the following week in the morning would work best... I think K's here on the tuesday and thursday of that week so mon-wed-fri would be best since he comes in the morning... what's best for you?

Let's go with Friday. I'll come to your place after work, so it'll be 5 or 5:15.

I've been setting up one of those J-accounts that Shadow posted about (oh, and researching Nikko for an overnight trip I'm doing next weekend), so I didn't have time to post here or there tonight. I need to go to sleep now though... it's 1:30am.

I saw Shadow's post about that, but it scared me. O_o

I hope you don't have to work tomorrow! Sleep well, crazy lady.

If you want to try the J blogging site, I can help you through the sign-up and stuffs. I think it looks a lot scarier than it really is, and the messiness of those screenshots don't help. ^^;

As for Xanga, I'm so new to it that I'm pretty much thrashing around blindly in there. (Possibly more blindly there than at the J blog site.) ^^;
