Watanuki and Naru have the same voice actor.

...I just watched the clips for xxxHolic. The English voices didn't impress me. I think I'll go gag now.

Dunno. I was beta-reading a nano-novel. On top of that, I was in bad mood after fighting with my parents so I didn't pay much attention to IRC chat.

Lina Inverse, Ayanami Rei and Paprika are totally different characters, but share the same Japanese voice actress. It depends on the quality of the voice actor.

The problem I see is that English VA's don't get trained, they learn on the job - in high-profile roles. Not the way you want to learn your craft, really, as you tend to get the reputation as lousy at your job no matter how much you improve.

…and there's nobody more resentful or with a longer memory than a fanboy/fangirl who thinks you messed up his/her character.

(There's also the example of Seki Tomokazu, who can be anyone [but isn't allowed to be creepy—NO], but I think he's more exception than rule.)

And then there's Hisakawa Aya and her zillions of roles, each quite different.

For example
- Sailor Mercury
- Yuki on Fruits Basket
- Usui Fumio, Kenta's cute mother on Karin/Chibi Vampire
- Iria in Iria:Zeiram the Animation

And then there're the odds cases like Mitsuishi Kotono who are *usually* at least all recognizable as her, until some notes that she was Juri in Utena. O_o

(Although my personal current favorite is that the same seiyuu played Nana O. in NANA and Ed in FMA. And you can tell. And yet she's completely awesome as both of them. *g*)

Oh Romi Paku!!! and she is my seiyuu goddess!! I just love her! I havent seen Nana but I loved her as Ed and she's also in Claymore and Shion no Ou and does a brillant job in that! She voices a "trap" character!

Seiyuu's I dont mind at all since like you said it depends on quality. Alot of my fav seiyuu's voice lots of different types of characters and pull it off nicely.

Exactly, I trust VA alot less so thats why the different personalities worry me.
