Oh. Crappity. I just realised how totally awesome it would've been if I'd started my job at Queen's Park (the legislature building) today. >_<

Maybe really, it's for the best. Still, I wonder if they did anything to commemorate?

[eta: Wait, what? Henry Fitzroy is now a graphic novelist? I so liked him as the author of bodice rippers. :/ ]

[eta2: The Making Light thread has quite the discussion of V for Vendetta. [livejournal.com profile] sandwichboy, I'm lookin' at you.]

[eta2a: *snrk* I gotta love a conversation that includes this: Rather ironic that the bureaucracy has led to sparing Guy rather than destroying him.]

I read a note from Tanya Huff about that. She said that writing didn't work in the TV medium. It was too hard to show what he was writing without going into cheesy dream sequences or having him read his writing aloud like an idiot. So they went with graphic novelist instead.

Oh, I see. I haven't seen any of the show (as you can maybe tell by my surprise). I was pretty much done with the story before the end of the series, and the stills I saw of the actor playing Henry were nowhere near as hawt as the Henry in my head. mmmmm… Henry in my head… I'llbeinmybunk.

I've given up on the TV series. Except for the people's names, there's pretty much no resemblance. Vicki is nowhere near as macho as she should be, she hardly ever wears her glasses, thereby completely destroying the whole reason for her leaving the force (which they hardly bring up anyways), Henry's ridiculously over-the-top "Behold My Sexiness" and acts like an oversexed teenager all the time, there's none of the tension between Vicki's two relationships, or any maturity on anyone's part, the dialogue is often utterly awful, and many of the secondary characters aren't acted very well. :P

I was especially disappointed that the pretty disturbing reanimating-the-dead storyline from Blood Pact got reduced to a dumb one-episode plot involving an illicit watch-dead-guys-fight club run by, apparently, incredibly cheesy cultists.

I agree, I still watch and will likely continue to watch the series Blood Ties. I haven't read the books so have no expectations from that direction. But the awfulness of the production goes beyond what you have mentioned to include very clearly little budget for this series. I guess I was spoiled by Buffy, which was so well done, that this cheesy show just doesn't compare.
I'm not really huge fan of Tanya Huff's work (but squee I have her autograph!!!). I find her work comes and goes. Some is good and some is just OK. So, that a tv show based on her work is just ok(ok somewhat subpar)...well, doesn't disappoint from that perspective.
Even though I don't think the show is that great, I'll definitely continue to watch it. For now anyway.

I only saw the first episode because it was free on Itunes, but I agree just from the one ep I saw. I found Mike Celluci (or however you spell it) really annoying and I could see no reason why they'd be attracted to each other. When I heard there was to be no Tony I never bother pursing other episodes. The only thing I liked was that they actually made Henry short.

Did they ever do a werewolf episode? I can only think that would have been horribly done.

In defence of the adaptation I haven't even seen, I never found Mike Celucci (I think it was spelt that way) hot. In fact, I always found him to be rather an asshole. All he did was push Vicki around and antagonise Henry. No thanks!
