ginny_t: for best results, store Ginny in a warm sunny place (tea by sapphire knight)

O_o Bought ~6 months apart in different cities and they have the same dye lot? *shrug* Okay! *dances*

Teas with Indian spices (Cinnamon, clove, cardamom, ginger, &c.) help with the oogly tummy. Also, oatmeal cookies helped yesterday. No, I do not propose to eat exclusively chai & oatmeal cookies. However, it's good to know what helps…

In ½ a week, I've seen 3 cars disobey the "when the streetcar doors are open, you STOP!" rule. On two of those occasions, I was the one trying to exit the streetcar. Today was the worst, when the taxi zoomed past seconds before I would've stepped out. Good thing I stop to thank the driver. *twitch*

I'm making it official: I'm not doing NaNo. I'm doing KnitMo! I have a frightful lot of Christmas knitting to do.

Woman in wool store was a little irritating. Yes, I bought a lot. Yes, I know it's a lot. Yes, it would make a ridiculously huge stole, if not for the fact that I'm going to double it. Frankly, it's my problem if I buy too much. And really, can you have too much gorgeous red laceweight alpaca? My answer is "hellno!"

[edit: for the record, it's 2km. *smug*]

It's too bad lj doesn't let you group icons. I could change the keywords so they'd appear alphabetically, but then all my previous uses would disappear. :/ Yes, I fail at foresight.

*fret* A summary but no scans?! *wail!*

Oh! There was this restaurant called Pimblett's - it was downstairs, dark, musty, very atmospheric. They served the best food - roast beef sandwiches the size of your head, welsh rarebit, fries so good… I could go on. And ZOMG! the gravy!

They had a fireplace. ^_^

Alas, it is gone. *moment of silence*

I think having one that doesn't work is even worse than not having one. *pets*

I am drinking tea with Indian spice. It makes me happy.

Red alpaca? Sexy.

Where is your favourite place to buy wool here?

Favourite is Knitomatic. Romni is good for selection, but the ambiance is atrocious! There's more detail in a comment below.

How odd you should mention chai when the wood working/computer doing guy in the back bought me a big bottle of chai masala from one of his clients who makes such things last night.

**glees at it**

Soooo, you seem like a good person to ask, then...

Where is a good store to get yarn Annex-ish (Bloor & Bathurst), or in/around Dufferin Mall, or Dufferin Dupont? I need to make some stuff for Christmas, but I haven't done anything since moving to Toronto. I have no idea where to go!

I'm a little fuzzy on the areas you mention. Why yes, I have lived in this city all my life!

For the ultimate in selection (overload a lot of the time), you want Romni Wool, just west of Bathurst on Queen. It's a scary overstuffed underlit firetrap, but there's lots of selection. Careful, though - some of it's quite expensive!

I really like Knitomatic, on Bathurst just south of St. Clair. It's smaller, but there's a pretty good selection, and Haley, the owner, is very nice & knowledgeable.

There's also the KnitCafe, further west on Queen, and Lettuce Knit in Kensington Market, and the Naked Sheep, on Queen east in the beaches.

These are all for the fairly good yarn. For things like acrylic, I guess a Zellers. Oh! And there's a Mary Maxim in the mall at Yonge & Eglinton - it's got a good range of inexpensive acrylic to soy/wool blends and lots in between.

Hope that helped!

Thanks for the information. I am spoiled, as my folks live in Port Dover. There is a place (five minutes walking) near their house called Lens Mill, a giant crafty warehoue (*drool*). They have a huge selection of wool that is all VERY reasonably priced. Waaah, Toronto = Expensive for pretty wool. Damn our high rents and further chicanery :)
