Happy Bastille Day!

(So, in August 99, I was in France the first time. There was a book in the new releases that was the story of the French Revolution from Marie Antoinette's POV. I really should've bought it at the time. Or at least made note of the title/author. *sigh* (How was I to know that I'd become so fascinated with powerful women in history? Well, maybe because it was a research trip for the Eleanor of Aquitaine story that still hasn't been written.) Also, on that trip, I really should've bought the French translation of A Song for Arbonne in Poitiers (home of the Courts of Love). That would've been to awesome to walk up to Kay at a reading and have him autograph that. ^_^)

This isn't the same book, since it was obviously released after '99 ... but it might be a similar thing: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/075381305X/202-2051166-4967849?v=glance&n=266239

I thought this would be a good icon for Bastille Day :)

Song for Arbonne is my favourite of Kay's stuff.

I was talking to a translator today and I caught him at a bad time - he was watching the Bastille Day parade and got all choked up with nostalgia. ^_^

Oh yeah, Bastille Day...

Screw the French , it's Alexander the Great's birthday too, yanno... I can't help it a bunch of frog peasants stormed the bastille on my birthday.

*unites Macedon and conquers Persia to prove a point*

Done ranting...

On any of your trips to Paris, did you ride the Bateau Mouche? If so, I would really appreciate if you could let me know any sites you saw from the ride, and any details you remember of the boat.

I am rewriting a scene of Mysterious Paris on the aforementioned boat ride, but it's been over 30 years since I took that ride! I have all the drama down, but not the travelogue bit.

Thank you!

*ponders* I don't really remember much of either of the boat tours I took. I do remember the narrowest house in Paris, Samaritaine, the pont Alexandre (slavophile as well as francophile), and the rose window of Notre Dame. And the Eiffel Tower, of course. ^_^

Just goes to show - I have to get me back to Paris for another boat tour! ^_^

Thanks! Those details are helpful. BTW, I like the icon you used in your reply. :)
