Oh. My. God! The nerve.
Aug. 13th, 2005 10:13 amOkay, I try not to get too political, because it upsets me. At the same time, though I like to know what's going on, because knowledge is power.
So, there's this woman camping out in front of Bush's vacation, demanding to meet with him about her son's death in Iraq last year. He's ignored her, sent out flunkies to try to get rid of her, no luck. It's grown, and there are now several hundred people, and media coverage, and crosses &c.
Yesterday, Bush was off to a function for his donors. He drove right past them. Drove. Right. Past. I'm astounded. Shocked. Amazed. Emboggled. (It's a word now.)
All that power. All that disregard. Where is the accountability?

Date: 2005-08-13 11:27 am (UTC)(Once, on the subway, Martina & I were talking about The West Wing, and I said something along the lines of "A good man in the White House, like that would ever happen!" Apparently, people gave me funny looks as a result. To them, I point out this situation as the latest in a long line of examples.)

It gets worse.
Date: 2005-08-13 12:06 pm (UTC)The US used war as a diplomatic tool. Every death is a result of our policy. Therefore, how every person grieves, can be considered political.
Man. You have no idea how long I waited for some unlucky person I know to bring this subject up!
Alright, taking a step back, breathing deeply...
Re: It gets worse.
Date: 2005-08-13 12:58 pm (UTC)'S okay. Glad I was able to help you get that off your chest!
I think we can agree that there's a shitload of hypocrisy coming out of the Bush administration. Among other things.
