Okay, I try not to get too political, because it upsets me. At the same time, though I like to know what's going on, because knowledge is power.

So, there's this woman camping out in front of Bush's vacation, demanding to meet with him about her son's death in Iraq last year. He's ignored her, sent out flunkies to try to get rid of her, no luck. It's grown, and there are now several hundred people, and media coverage, and crosses &c.

Yesterday, Bush was off to a function for his donors. He drove right past them. Drove. Right. Past. I'm astounded. Shocked. Amazed. Emboggled. (It's a word now.)

All that power. All that disregard. Where is the accountability?

It's kind of hard down here not to get a bit jaded about it all. "Oh look! Bush is giant fucktard for 800th time in a row! *yawn*"

I suspect he drove past as he wasn't sure what to say to her. Your son died so Iraqis can be free? >_>

LOL. Yeah, I'm not totally surprised... :)

That poor woman, though. She deserves at least a hand shake from him.

*hugz* I feel your frustration (._.) You'd think he could at least say 'something' even if it is written up by someone else and fed to him through an earpiece...

I know that this situation is not the least bit funny, but...

Bush. Accountability.

You joke, right?

I know, I know. Silly Ginny!

(Once, on the subway, Martina & I were talking about The West Wing, and I said something along the lines of "A good man in the White House, like that would ever happen!" Apparently, people gave me funny looks as a result. To them, I point out this situation as the latest in a long line of examples.)

Even though the woman spent 8 years as a Catholic youth minister and even though when she met Bush with a group of others who'd lost their loved ones, he didn't know her name, her son's name and said he couldn't ever imagine if his children died--Even through all this, the conservatives (ie: Free Rebublic, O'Riely, etc) say that her grief has no merit because she is using her son's death for political motivation.

The US used war as a diplomatic tool. Every death is a result of our policy. Therefore, how every person grieves, can be considered political.

Man. You have no idea how long I waited for some unlucky person I know to bring this subject up!

Alright, taking a step back, breathing deeply...

'S okay. Glad I was able to help you get that off your chest!

I think we can agree that there's a shitload of hypocrisy coming out of the Bush administration. Among other things.

Accountability? If he can't say it then why should he have it?
