Dude! Did you just say dub? Dub? Ick.

Ano, you say you spelled "Kyo Kara Maoh" properly, but there's no "correct" spelling of romaji, especially since I've always seen it "Mao". I'm just sayin'.

I have Kare Kano 16. *gloats*

In most of the common versions of Romaji I've been trained in, there's no "h" standing by itself. It always has a vowel following after it. If the "o" is supposed to be lengthened, it can have a bar over it or a "u" after it.

The Japanese don't like lonesome consonants. The only consonant that stands by itself in the syllabary (sp?) is "n/m".

And I've seen it spelled both "Kyo Kara Mao" and "Kyo Kara Maou", although the first seems most common. This is the first I've heard with an ecchi - er, H - on the end.

It's not actually an "h" standing by itself - it's an older way of transcribing long "o"s, especially at the end of a word, such that おう gets transcribed as "oh". See Azumanga Daioh! (あずまんが だいおう!) for a modern example, or the name of the character "Ryo-oh-ki" (りょ-おう-き) from Tenchi Muyo!.

The solo "h" gets used to extend a long "e" too, but it's vastly more rare, and someone who's using "oh" will almost always use "ei".

I'd spell it "Mao" too, or "Maoo", but I know people who'd spell it "Maou" - probably more, in fact, than would spell it "Maoh". (Actually, given my druthers, I'd spell it with a macron over the "o". "Maô", maybe, as an approximation.)

(The problem, of course, with spelling it "Mao" is that you can't tell how long to hold the "o". "Maoh" (or "Maoo", or "Maou", or "Maô") tell you that it's a long o, but the first is considered "archaic" by a lot of people, and the other three get into weird pronunciation issues. If it is, in fact, a short - single-length - o, then "Mao" is appropriate, with no further decoration.)

(Not that hearing "Ryoga" pronounced "ree-OO-gah", because people have seen it spelled "Ryouga", is a pet peeve of mine or anything.)

*hugs*
