"Sith" is definitely an acronym
Jun. 7th, 2005 09:00 pmAt loose ends, I decided to use my night off for a little burning hatred. Wow! It was very bad.
Don't get me wrong, on its own, it was possibly an okay movie, not worthy of the burning hatred it inspired. That said, these are established characters and you're raping and betraying them!
Notes to George Lucas:
Sonic Yoda is not welcome here!
Stop. Fucking! with. Artoo! (In order of release, he gets quite a bit of character development, not all of it necessarily bad. In order of story, he does some serious devolving while Luke & Leia are growing up!)
Also, subtle. Look it up, learn it. You could use some tips from the makers of Noir1 for subtlety.
The title crawl was awful!
Chewbacca did not belong in this movie. Period. Chewbacca is Han Solo's sidekick, pal, buddy, faithful companion, not Yoda's mount.
The lava fight was too bloody long.
It's Obi-Wan. Not Obi One.
There were some good points:
The opening fanfare (right from the Fox music, actually) still gets me.
The first breath of Vader as Vader was pretty nifty. But that's just because of classic Vader love.
Ewan McGregor continued to be awesome as Obi-Wan.
Neutral:
The iguana-thing that Obi-Wan rode was neat. And it reminded me of Daisy, our flopsy-mopsy kitty. *loves the Daisy*
In the end, at least it gave me a distraction from moving stress.
And now, a true story:
When I was young, and my brother first told me that the second movie would be called "The Empire Strikes Back", my reply was: "Second movie? But it's done! There can't be a second movie." True story.
Finally, in the walkway to the subway, there was a busker exhorting me to be good to my man. Quite vehemently. He made excellent use of the acoustics in the tunnels. It was not bad.
1 The anime that spawned the term "sledgehammer of subtlety". That was Chris. He's pretty awesome sometimes. Okay, a lot of the time.
