ginny's Kitchen Tips & Tricks
Nov. 4th, 2004 11:03 amIf you have eggs that are past their best-before date, don't just throw them away. You can test an old egg by dropping it into a glass of water. If it floats, very carefully dispose of it. If it sinks, it's useable. Not good for scrambling or frying, but just fine for baking.
(I live alone, and sometimes a dozen eggs barely lasts two weeks, and other times I come across eggs that are well past the date on the carton, but I hate waste.)
