See, my first reaction was Flyboy as well, but it seems awfully subtle.

Interestingly, I just finished that book, so it's fresh in my mind. :-)

There was a book about 10 years ago Flyboy Action Figure comes with Gas Mask, a fun little tale of insects, disappearances, marijuana and Sailor Moon. (Among other things.) The Flyboy character wore a trenchcoat and gasmask, but not a hat (so I'm told, it's been awhile since I read it).
