Uh, yeah. Willpower? I might be allergic. At the Hairy T, I picked up another Full Metal Panic! DVD, 'cause they didn't have any of the manga I wanted. And then I turned around, and happened to glance up. Eeeeee! New printings of the Nausicaa manga! So pretty! And at US cover price! So, I got four. This printing has 6 or 8 volumes, but everyone's telling me the manga's so much better than the movie, so I was going to have to get it someday, right?

(I should've known I was in trouble when I went to the bead store to buy $1 worth of beads and left $11 later. sigh)

And I resisted so many other temptations. Like the first Kare Kano DVD in the half-price or buy-one-get-one-free bin. And then Demo bought it. And I gazed at it covetously. But I was good, I said nothing to spoil the pleasure he took in his acquisition. Sigh. And then he gave it to me! Yay! He said he was buying an odd number, so it worked out that way. Must find way to properly show appreciation. Demo's a good guy. (I can't use the word "nice". He doesn't like that.)

And then Jelynne joined us, and we forced her to enter the den of temptation. She complained, but we didn't have to injure her all that badly to get her in there... And then we had dinner at the Pickle Barrel. I confess, I was sceptical. And then I saw the menu, and my tastebuds started singing. A portobello mushroom sandwich! And then it arrived. And my tastebuds danced! They danced for joy and sang the "We love mushrooms" song. And I got portobello mushroom juice all over my hands and licked my fingers and didn't care that it was bad manners. Sooooo yummy!

I had odd dreams last night. For making pie today with Linz, I said I would look for the TV re-make of South Pacific. And I dreamed of that. And a teacher. (?) And other weirdness. Urgh. That's what I get for saying that my subconscious is giving me a break.

Title taken from [livejournal.com profile] linzq, who had decreed that this is the Year of Pie.

So, today, she and I made pie. The lovely wonderful amazing Lindsay chose Apple-Raspberry pie to make! (She might like me.) And it was good. The pastry was almost perfect, and we erred on the side of extra flakiness. That does make the rolling a little harder, but the pie is so much better that way.

And we watched the re-make of South Pacific that came out a couple of years ago, starring Glenn Close. During the first half, while we were making the pie, I wasn't overly impressed with her performance. Or singing. But when we sat down to watch it, I realised that she did quite a good job. My only complaint was that she was a little old to be playing Nellie Forbush. But other than that, it was pretty good.

Two unfortunate discoveries today:
  1. Wanda's Pie in the Sky cookbook. So many pies! Cakes & cookies! And only $22.95! But, but! No. I've splurged too much lately. It'll have to wait.
  2. Bay St. Video, a 5-minute walk from my home, has a musicals section. A section of musicals! It's about 75-100 titles, but they're all on DVD, and only a 5-minute walk away! I was so tempted to borrow Silk Stockings, just to rip some of those songs. (I've already paid for the DVD, and Cole Porter's received plenty of from me already.)
Now, I have a nice quiet night at home. Yay!

season 03
Season Three - A lot of people say that you're the
best, and who could really argue - you're
pretty, witty, and you've got one of Buffy's
best adversaries: the Mayor. Pound for pound,
you're why so many people love Buffy.

Whooo! Exciting Saturday night. My firewall's keeping out even the files I want in. So, after [livejournal.com profile] jelynne and I reached the extent of our computer knowledge (let's try this... no? how 'bout that? nope), we called in Matt. He very patiently and heroically walked me through command-line ftp transfers. Yay! And I got my Aishiteru ze Baby manga scans! Yay! I've been very restraintful in my squee! about this show. I like it tonnes. Tonnes & tonnes!
