Aug. 5th, 2004 07:34 amThe Shaw festival has made a comedy out of Turgenev's Fathers and Sons. Is nothing sacred? (urgh. The adaptation's called Nothing Sacred, I guess that answers my question.) I didn't really care for the book when I read it, but still - taking political commentary and turning it into comedy? It's just wrong! Wrong, I say! Okay, not as wrong as the happy musical ending of Disney's "Hunchback of Notre Dame" (poor Victor Hugo), but still. Bad!
