Yikes! 24 hours of friends page to catch up on. Still no Aishiteruze Baby #17. Bitter? Me?

Yesterday was a perfect day! In The Mountain & The Valley, by Ernest Buckler, there's a description of the "perfect summer day", when the flowers are in bloom, the sky is deep deep blue, the grass so green. Not every year has one, and it marks the turning point between the growth of spring and the death of autumn. I think yesterday was just such a day. Riding the GO train out felt almost surreal, like it was something that couldn't be happening to me, it was too wonderful a day. (On a side note, I love the view of the skyline from the Humber River. There's a break in all the stupid condos clogging up the waterfront, and you look out and see the buildings of the financial district, crowned by the CN Tower, all behind a screen of trees. It's lovely. Not so lovely is the fact that the building I work in is easily distinguishable in such a scene but oh well!)

The Ren Faire was lots of fun. I didn't get used to being called My Lady, though. Odd. But fun. We watched a jousting tournament, but none of the jousters got unseated. I guess you can't have everything, even on the perfect summer day. Was very smart and wore a hat, even if it did completely squash my curls. And I convinced Nance to do the same. We got tonnes of compliments - yay! And eeeeek! lots of sun. Fortunately, mine was fading by the time I got home last night. I hope she's okay.

After dinner, we watched a show her husband thought we'd like. Oh yeah! Graham Norton. He's a very gay, very funny talk show host in Britain. I think my favourite moment was the orgasmic groan of the balloon fetishist when he found out he was talking to Cher. It was very good. We laughed and laughed and laughed. It was very much fun!

Even the ride home on the train was odd. I felt disconnected again. This time it was just plain tired. 4 hours of almost non-stop walking in the summer sun will do that from time to time, yes? Now I have lots of new stuff to watch, and it's all in English, so I can craft while watching - yay!

On the subject, anyone interested in VHS copies of The English Patient (2 tapes, widescreen) or Shakespeare in Love? Let me know, first come, first served. These've been claimed. Wow, Vivian was fast on this!
