Yay! My lovely wonderful friend Nance called yesterday & invited me to a Renaissance Festival today! Whee! Which is good, 'cause I had absolutely nothing planned for this weekend, and another day like yesterday would've driven me nuts!

Another Sunday without an Aishiteruze Baby torrent. Caught myself shaking my fist at the fansubber's torrent list. This is getting bad. But I need my kawaii fix! I need it bad! um... nothing to see here, move along

I'm loving Edith Piaf's voice these days. I've always liked her songs, but the quality of the recordings I have is pretty bad. I'm becoming a snob. What could I expect for $20 for 2 discs? But yeah, loving her voice. :-) And I love the sound of French. When I was in Paris the first time, on my last night there, I was sitting by the Seine, and there was this very lovely woman, shining dark hair, red fedora, stylish, and she was there busking. Soooo nice.

The problem with going out to Nance's place is that I have to take the GO train. Well, at 9a, and going away from the heart of the city, it shouldn't be too bad, right? And the Caribana stuff's moved to the island now. Hmm... Union station's probably going to be quite busy. eeeeeeek. I hate crowds.

Are you listening to mono recordings? I have that problem with some of my blues CDs.

Try looking for something that's been remastered in Stereo. When remastering, they often clean up the noise. Tower has samples you can listen to online, such as:

I've been a Piaf fanatic my whole life...

"Je ne regret rien" is pretty good, and everybody knows "La vie en rose", but my two faves are "Les Trois Cloches" and "Milord", especially the latter.

And, echoing my Vampy dota-chan's sentiments, have fun at the Ren Faire! :)

The one I'm particularly loving right now is a duet with Charles Aznavour - "Le Bleu de Tes Yeux". Pretty!
