As I said in a previous LJ to someone else, it would be wise to have some sort of thing in place in case LA is in flames and thousands are dead. OTOH, the Bush Administration is not the one who should propose this. Kerry should. Hell, it's for his own good. If the US is in chaos, what's to stop Bush exercising his right to have federales count all the ballots 'fairly'? ^^;; If there's a genuine terror situation, it *is* best to postpone things till we can stop stupid shit from happening.

What bothers me most, I think...

Is that Bush is uniting the Arab/Muslim world in a newfound hatred of America. His policies work out to the favour of the fanatics who attack America.

Watch in the future for terrorist groups to come out in favour of George's re-election. It'll happen.

A contingency plan is definitely wise. I'm afraid though, that the Bush administration isn't well-known for their wisdom. Or sharing. The best way to go is to have no disasters between now & the election. I've decided, it shall be so.

The other issue being that the Bush Administration would no doubt welcome another incident so that they could hold off the elections "until the crisis and threat to our great democracy had passed", which, of course, means until Georgie-poo gets tired of playing Prez...

Believe it or not, I'm not even a conspiracy nut, I just don't trust George and his warhawks as far as I could throw the White House...

Yeah, they scare the heck out of me. Which is why I very fervently hope that nothing happens to provoke them. I have a bit of a habit of clinging tenaciously to the faintest of hopes. If they have no excuse, they can't too blatantly hijack the electoral process. Again.

Like I said, don't count on it, I don't think they'd let a little thing like "the law of the land" get in their way... =/

That's where even I would fly to D.C. and march on the White House. Get me arrested or not.

You'd be lucky if you weren't shot for being "un-american"

I figure with the gun control in the States, I'm lucky to not be shot at all.

*Shrugs* At least I'd get shot for doing something worthwhile

defecting to Canada was worthwhile and you didn't get shot, maybe you've got a streak going...
From: [identity profile] kats-kradle.livejournal.com
Not 'defecting' to Canada, thanks though Mike. I'm not up here because I think the U.S. sucks, I'm here because the guy I love is up here.

And as far as a streak, what's the point of having one if you don't risk it once in a while. It's like saying a pansy ass has a good record of not getting hit because he never leaves his room. Much more impressive if you say it about the typical truck driver.
