Jul. 14th, 2004 11:43 amI shouldn't complain. I know I have no real cause for complaint. My life is pretty good right now. Sure, I have things I'd like to fix, but I've no one but myself to blame for the fact that I haven't yet fixed them.
The biggest source of irritation for me is my job. It's soul-destroying corporate hell, but it pays pretty well. So I shouldn't complain.
But... come on, you knew it was coming...
What irks me most about my job is the fact that I'm expected to be always thinking, but I have to deal with people who either don't grant me credit for always thinking, or who are just not thinking themselves. Any time we send a request to the developers, their first response is the most obvious and basic. We're the main support people for an office of over 50 users. We know the obvious and basic ways to use the software. If we're stumped, it's probably a deeper problem, or something we don't have the authority/rights to fix. Sigh.

Date: 2004-07-14 08:57 am (UTC)I know this is frustrating (I go through the same thing myself sometime) but the fact is that developers always try to find the easiest solution to a problem. It's in their nature. And all hell breaks loose is they actually *try* to make things complicated...

But you started putting a plan into motion to move on and up, and maybe something fantastic will happen before then! I'll keep my hopes up. You deserve better!

Date: 2004-07-14 09:45 am (UTC)Some jobs suck more than others, but keep in mind that *any* white-collar job will have, by its very nature, some of the problems you're currently facing. Everyone always looks to other people for solutions. It's part of being corporate. That might not go away if you find another job that's not retail/shoving stuff around (those have their own problems).
