Thoughts on Criminal Minds 501
Sep. 24th, 2009 09:28 pmI have a long list of plot devices that I want banned for general use; writers will have to prove proficiency to get temporary licence to use them. Added to that list: partial conversations overheard and quickly misunderstood, with bonus points for overhearing half a conversation and getting the absolute opposite impression than eavesdropper would've got if he/she had stayed for the whole thing.
Also, irrational family members. Grr. They did at least avoid "irrational family member goes off half-cocked and makes things worse," but that was only because their twist required it.
I make sceptical face at the requirement that no one knew what LC meant. Really, now?
I also have no patience for the big bad bogeyman that not even the l33t crimefighters can catch, who then turns around and targets the l33t crimefighters. How many is CM up to now? Too many. (Honestly, one is too many unless done well, and you don't go back to that no matter how well it worked for you the first time.)
Also, I still don't get Haley: Hotch has been with the BAU for years, but it's only once the show started that she started to hate his job? In fact, they were happy loving couple for the first season. C'mon.
Oh, show.
