I got tonnes of sleep on Saturday night & woke up well-rested. Then I spent a chunk of the day just fritzing about on the computer & watching various things.

Then, it was Emily's BBQ. That was just the thing I needed. It cheered me up just perfectly. I haven't been to the beach in ages. It was nice, but once it got dark, I was glad I was wearing 2 layers and wool. Even still, I was a little chilled when I left.

The problem with walking to the streetcar or bus is that you can see it go by before you're at the stop. Curses! But at least it wasn't a long wait. And not a scary neighbourhood.

So, I forgot to call my mom for mother's day. We'd already arranged to go out tomorrow night, rather than yesterday, when everything would be busy. And her other children can do stuff with her on mother's day. But I was walking along Queen and noticed a mother's day sign on one of the sandwich boards. Oh! So I called her, feeling all sheepish. I'm lucky my mom's so understanding & easygoing. Sometimes.

Must fix my katakana icon. I had the wrong kana as the first character - curses! [livejournal.com profile] jelynne, how'd you do that?

The rotation is a transition effect in JASC Animation Shop, actually.

If you find the right kana, in the same size as the others (or another 'set' like you did before), I'll re-do the icon for you. I think that would be easier than for you to try to find a program, ne? ^.^

You can find katakana icons at http://www.bigtrouble.com/kana

That is the site I go to test myself on hiragana and katakana, but they also have pictures of all the kana.

If you are looking for Ginny, that should be 2 kana: Gi + Ni, although if you want the "i" sound to be double length on either syllable, you can add an "i" kana after either (or both). And if you want to prnounce your name with a double "n" (with slight pause between the two, as in Gi-n-ni), then you can add an "n" kana after the "Gi".

Oooh, thanks. I had my name written for me by Ysa's Japanese friend. Unfortunately, when I found the kana based on what she'd written, I chose the downward stroke kana rather than the upward stroke and so I ended up with "zuni" instead of Ginny. (That site looks very helpful, though - thanks!)
