I love my country
Jun. 29th, 2005 09:21 amIt's all over my friends' page. In varying degrees, from woo-hoo, to "I'm not normally all that patriotic, but right now, I am"... I think my favourite is the American who told us that we "fucking rock". Damn straight we do!
Yes, C-38 passed. Good. I accidentally caught sight of Alexa McDonagh spewing political b-s. Could've done without that.
For the record, I am fiercely patriotic. "Rabid" could even be used on occasion. But never blindly. It's not perfect, and I love it anyway. I have gone away, and returned, and let me tell you, there's nothing like doing that to make you appreciate your home. It's cliché, but there's a truth at the heart of it.
365 days a year, I love this place, and no matter where I am, it's home and I'll be back. It's nice to see other people feelin' the love, too.
à propos: Chauvinism is belief that your country is superior. It's male chauvinism that the feminists hate.
