I am impressed
Jun. 3rd, 2005 02:50 pmOkay, I have stupidly high service standards. It comes from working in a 4-star hotel for 3 years. (I don't count the Marriott in Georgia. I don't care what AAA says, if you serve leftovers on your lunch buffet, you're *not* a 4-star hotel!)
I went back with my camera, and told the story. He said okay, and someone would be with me shortly. (I didn't realise that the woman on the phone was the woman he was serving at the time.) So I waited, patiently. Along came another guy, and I told him. He went away. But he came back shortly after with Scott. Scott knew half the story, and when I told him that the camera didn't appear anywhere on the computer, he was surprised. We talked about what I liked & my flexibility for going up in price, and he showed me one, but said it wasn't that company's best. He tested the burst function (my new darling), and it wasn't very good. Then, he took me over to the Nikon. Okay, $40 more, but Nikon. He tested the burst, and it was good. Possibly better than the 3fps on the Kodak.
So that was the one. He knew how to do the return (woo!), and then asked if I'd been offered the Digital Starter kit. I said sort of, but then he said something about points, so I decided to listen. It turned out I could get rebates on a bunch of stuff, including the camera bag for which I didn't have the receipt at the time, and an extension of the warranty. Woo! Oh yeah, and, he got me the points for everything I'd bought, which translates into a $10 gift certificate. Wheeee!
All in all, an excellent experience. When I went to Black's, I was a little hesitant going to the mega chain, but this *definitely* worked out for me. Pictures one of these days. Once I'm off dial-up!
