ginny_t: A close-up of chess pieces, the text reads "the queens we use would not excite you" a quote from "One Night in Bangkok" Photo taken by troubleinchina (intellectual snobbery)
for what you choose to quote.

Sure, one could be cute and say, "That's not me; that's someone else." But if you're spreading that quote, perpetuating that thought, passing it along, can you really turn around then and disclaim any responsibility for the sentiment therein? I say no.

Also, irony's had a pretty shit time of it lately. First Alannis Morrissette made a song about things that aren't at all ironic and called them ironic. Lately, a whole group of people have taken to saying objectionable things and claiming they're being ironic. How 'bout no, m'kay? Hurtful and oppressive things are hurtful and oppressive, not ironic.

Finally, in case anyone wants to be all "I'm sorry if* I offended you," the word you want is "contemptuous," not offended.

*An apology with an "if" in it ain't no great shakes, neither.
